In addition to the long-term mentorship option, you may now host Quick Chats. Quick Chats are one-time, 30-minute mentorship conversations that allow you to share your experience and offer guidance to fellow alumni and students without long-term commitment. You may host up to eight Quick Chats at a time.
Note: Quick Chat requests are made via direct message. Each request counts toward your limit as soon as it is submitted, regardless of whether you have responded.
After connecting with your mentee, take a moment to reflect on your conversation. Jot down key takeaways and ideas for future sessions. While this may be a one-time interaction, if you have the time and interest, consider offering a long-term connection to continue building the relationship.
How to opt-in:
1. Create/log in to your mentorship profile. Review your profile to make sure all information is current, including the number of Quick Chats you are willing to host.
2. Review your current connections respond to any pending Quick Chat messages.
3. Determine the meeting format (virtually or in person) that you can offer your mentee.
4. Schedule your Quick Chat, setting clear expectations about the time you have available.
5. Review: How to Be a Good Mentor: 5 General Guidelines.
6. After your Quick Chat, reflect on your conversation and share feedback with the NAA about your experience, including ways we can improve the program. If you have availability for long-term matches, consider offering a full six-month mentorship to the mentee to continue building an engaging partnership.
